What I’ve been up to….9

Finally I’ve started with a new venture, learning Blender and I found myself a great simple tutorial on YouTube just for that. How to make a donut in Blender.

And as you all can see, I have just started to shape something called a “Torus” or better a ring-shaped object with a hole in de the middle that allready looks a bit like a donut. Looking at the various steps that are following, it will turn out like a real donut. Or in my case, as real as I can get it but it’s my first time modelling anything and this is just the first lesson soooo.

About my poses, I think I have mistakingly deleted some of the poses I had started on so I can start all of the planned sets all over again. Various words came to mind that I better not repeat here online. But stuff like that happens.

Next on the list is getting to know DazStudio better. All I can say about that is…*sigh*…. I will have to accept that a long and good relationship with that software is never going to happen. So I will just keep it to create poses for certain figures I like and leave the Art on the “to do”-list.

About my wrist. I’ve had the surgery regarding my carpal-tunnel syndrome about two weeks ago and the bandage has been taken of. I’m allowed light work, not to long on the computer at one sitting and no carrying heavy objects for at least 3-4 weeks. Slowly build up. My left wrist will be undergoing the same surgery about 6 weeks from now. All in all this will take about 3 months in total. I have decided to spread my time on the computer and relax my hand regurlarly. So the poses will take longer then normal.

Poses & Textures

Finally I found some time and inspiriation to start creating some poses & freebies in my favorite software. I know, I know,…I still have to figure out DazStudio but you see, the interface DazStudio has and me just don’t get along very well.

So to get back into the rythm of things I turn to the one I know best, Poser. Though I must say, Poser has changed aswell. Never mind, I chose some of my best figures to start working with. Of course there is the incomparable Daz Victoria 4, the breathtaking Hivewire Dawn and of course my bestie among the toons Scampixie Pranx, version 1&2.

And now there is LaFemme, who also comes in various versions these days. There is just no keeping up with all these figures. For starters I pay my attention to LaFemme 2 for now. Just some simple poses to get started with.

These will be just an assorted collection of simple poses for general use and they will come with their mirrored version. I’ve tried these on LFemme 2 & LFemme2 Pro and there seem to be no difference.

LaFemme is quite different in structure then most figures and she requires a bit more attention to get the same flow to the movement but we’ll get there. The second pose, simulating a leaning againt a wall, is almost done so I got back to my textures.

Since LaFemme has a nice set of Basic Clothing Items wich also includes a conforming Basic TShirt I thought of creating some supporter shirts for LaFemme. A girl has to cheer for her favorite soccerclub doesn’t she?! And with the women’s league doing so well…..

I just got started with some TShirts and am still working on them. The Union Jack is a tricky thing though 🙂

What I’ve been up to….8

Now that the old year has ended and the new year has just started it’s time for me to organize some of the freebies that have been offered at the Christmas Advent Calendars & some of the old items that I was creating as products for sale before I put Poser/DazStudio on pause.

One of those items was an extended set of poses featuring Hivewire Dawn and the Hivewire Patio-Set, both available at Renderosity and I must say, those poses were well on their way. The version for DazStudio was in it’s testing-phase and I was about to correct some of the poses since I still have an issue saving the poses in the correct way in DazStudio.

But I got a paid job for a year – wich is almost reaching it’s conclusion – and we are finally starting to give our caravan a total makeover because of that job. My beloved Poser and DazStudio had to wait for at least a year……

…..and these poses had to wait. Since the Poser version was a good as ready I managed to create sets of them and have them offered as freebie at the Fantasy Attic annual Halloween & Christmas Givaway.

For the coming period I will be working ‘till April but there is also a bit of surgery for me to have for wich the date I will probably get tomorrow. I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both my wrists and it seems that it will take several weeks to heal so we will have to see how that goes.

In the meantime, I want you all to have some fun with some freebies of mine wich can only be downloaded from this blog. You’ll find them in the Exclusive Freebie section.

You may have noticed!

I have decided to give myself some presents this year since we worked hard for some extra’s. Most of my wage will be going to renovating our holiday-home, a caravan wich we are renewing and updating to luxurious standards. We did the bathroom some years ago and this year, thanks to a bit of luck, we are able to really build an extra portion that will become our new livingroom. We never expected to have this extra income but now we have saved up, I think we can spend some on ourselves aswell.

At the end of each year it’s custom in this country for employers to give some extra money with the monthly wage and this year we are spending my bonus on some clothing, shoes and some luxury items. For me personally I’ve chosen to buy myself an annual plan for this blog of mine. Also because my “job-contract” is only for one year and coming april I will be fully concentrating on my 3D-Graphics again. I figured that an ad-free blog was something I deserved. 🙂

To get myself started again I thought about giving LaFemme and her big sister LaFemme 2 some nice T-Shirts inspired by the soccertods I did for LilBit. For LaFemme there is this dynamic T-Shirt I find easy to texture and the Dutch supporters allready have two options.

Option 2 has a very small difference with the sleeves. So let me know wich of the two you would like best. Of course these soccertods will be my freebie made available only here on this blog and there will be more countries.

For LaFemme 2 I have chosen a conforming T-Shirt wich is a little harder to get the textures right but I will try.

My goal for the coming year is to create some poses for both LaFemme 1 and 2 and also for Genesis 8 and 9. I will start slowly in the new year because we are renovating the caravan and I will still have to work for the first three months.

But, first things first. The festive season. I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New-Year!

Slowly Returning…..

It’s been quite a year for me and my family, wich we are ending with covid for the both of us. Luckily we got our shots the first time around so now it’s more like a enormous flue with all the bells & trims that go with it. But so far so good, we are alive and getting better.

My PC is finally back to being restored to the full content, well…..almost that is since I did have to eliminate quite alot dating back to good old Poser 5 & 6. Those were the days….but with Poser 12 running and version 13 around the corner alot of the content is nog longer compatible I’m afraid. It’s a shame really because some of that old content is very dear to my heart. Not to mention expensive to renew everything.

It made me realize that there are probably alot of people out there who do not have the financial means to keep buying new software and content so I’m slowly searching through my ancient stuff to see wich is still a bit nice and will see if I can’t put up some of it here for free. I’ve started with some of my very old poses for Victoria 4 & Michael 4.

For those who keep a little track of this blog they may notice that two of my retired items have been moved to the “Exclusive”-freebie section and have been made available for download.

The two pose sets I made for Victoria4 & Michael4 are now free for download in my Exlusive Freebie Area on the third page HERE.

Please, do read before downloading. These poses are old and were made some years ago. They were never tested in the latest versions of Poser and/or DazStudio so I can not guarantee if they are compatible at all with the new software. But for those who can still find a use for them please feel free.

What I’ve been up to….7

Things have been moving alot in my life lately. I finally have a new, read refurbished, laptop, for my digital Art and I have……wait for it…..a full time job. So digital Art is back to hobby hours for a while. It did enable me to buy Poser 12 and re-install DazStudio. I am re-organizing all of my 3D content, wich is a lot, on the laptop. I’ve managed to fill up 32% of my 2TB allready sooo….I really need to filter some of it out.

For our caravan/holiday home this means renovation starts earlier then planned and it will be a complete renovation since we have the budget to match it now. Of course we are waiting for the reno-plans to be approved and that can take a couple of months. For now we are just making plans and I’m contemplating colors & styling plans. I might post a serie of this when we are actually starting if you all like.

Then there is this online thing of my 3D stuff. I don’t quite know whether to keep WordPress and take a subscription or start my own website. Subscription cost is not the issue, it’s mainly the online storage that has me wondering how expensive that is going to get. So I’m still puzzling on that.

In the meantime,….

What I’ve been up to….6

Waiting for something – esspecially something you really want – is always hard and costs alot of patience. But since there is not much else I can do, it’s back to work as usual.
Finishing my products that I had started on such as the Garden Leisure poses for Hivewire Dawn and the Patio-Set.

I still don’t know how big I’m going to make this set, maybe add 4 more poses for the patio-set itself. I’ve also saved several poses zeroed on the axes so people may use them on other chairs or furniture and of course some partials for the LowerBody & UpperBody.
I was thinking as a small addon to create some animal poses aswell for the Hivewire Bigdog to match these poses.

Up to now I have a total of 16 poses to match the patio-set and have the figures interacting with each other. These are also incuding the poses needed for the chairs. I have saved 14 poses to be used as individual poses and of course 14 partial Lower- and UpperBody poses. Included will also be the much needed Defaults for the various elements.

I could add some more detailed poses of Dawn drinking or being served with food or drink but I’m not sure about that. It would require extra content that people may not have and then they would need to tweak the pose maybe to much to get the same result.

For now I will start to save them in DazStudio.

What I’ve been up to….5

Since there are some things going on in the background I’ve started some of the poses I have on my list. One set being the patio-poses for Dawn of course.

But there has been another set playing on my mind since finding out that the Dragonbraid for Dawn would not move over to Renderosity. I have been looking for a braided hair and I found some real nice hairstyles made by Ali. I chose the Hr229 to start with, basically because the hair by Ali is for more characters.

I decided to created some poses for the Hr229 for Dawn for the Everyday Poses that come with Dawn Special Edition. I like that the braid can be made longer so I can create two type of poses. For the basic short version of the braid and for the braid length set at 1.000.
This way I can still re-create the Dragonbraid poses a bit. I won’t include the poses I made esspecially for Dawn since people have allready bought the Little Miss Braided & Braided Again sets for Dawn. People would have to pay twice for the same poses for Dawn that were created initially to match with the Dragonbraid.
Instead I will create braid poses for the second Everyday Poses set for Dawn that is available as a seperate set at Renderosity.

For LaFemme I have a set in mind with just the basic braid size since I will create some poses for LaFemme to go with this set. It will probably based on the poses I created for Dawn. Even though the two characters are not the same and some tweaking is needed.
After Hr229 I have another lovely hairstyle in mind, I believe it’s Hr232 with two braids.

And I have some other sets planned that will depict characters in the daily life of things, as family, as friends and of course their pets.

Freebies….SoccerTods (part 1)

Several years ago – during some World Cup Soccer event – I started to create textures for clothing items made by Trumarcar for Lil’Bit, a Toon Character made by RedSpark wich is still available at Daz3D.
The textures represent the various nations of the world that would participate in the World Cup and the official name is “The International Tods Support your Sport Club” – otherwise known as The SoccerTods. The plan was back then, to create clothing textures for all the nations but I never managed to finish them all. The first two sets – each containing textures for 8 countries – are available at KCTC.

Now the European Cup for Soccer has started, I’ve picked these textures up again and I’m hoping to finish some more of them while the European Cup Event lasts. When the tournement is over I will be back creating the normal freebies and products.

There are 4 new sets of textures. There are textures for Italy, Turkey, Switzerland & Wales added to the SoccerTods.

Mind you, it has been quite some years since the first textures were created and there are some newer versions of Poser. The first 2 sets date back to 2014 and they still contain Matposes (Pz2 format) that will only work in Poser versions up to Poser 9, maybe PP2012. Don’t worry, those older sets also contain the MC6-format that is used in the Material Room and that works fine in the latest versions Poser 11+

The new textures were created in Poser 12 so the earlier versions will get a Pop-Up about it being content created for a newer version. It will still work though.
